It all Started with a jar of peanuts and a can of cheap coffee...
I had the idea that became CafeButter while I was a sophomore studying food science at Ohio State University. I wanted to make a food I could eat at breakfast that would help wake me up. I immediately thought of coffee. One day on the way to class, I was thinking about how much I enjoy peanut butter, and decided to try to make a peanut butter that tasted like coffee. That day, on my way home, I stopped at a convenience store and picked up a jar of peanuts and a can of coffee. After that first batch I began my search for the right coffee, talking to baristas, roasters, and caffeine-fiends. I settled on Thunderkiss Coffee's single-origin Colombian, medium roast. It has a classic coffee flavor, with hints of chocolate, and without the bitterness many consumers fear. I've moved out of my kitchen and into a commercial kitchen. CafeButter is still my favorite way to start the day, and I hope you think so too.
